Payment Processing - Stripe

We use Stripe to process payments securely. When you make a purchase, your payment information is sent directly to Stripe and is subject to their Privacy Policy. We receive only limited payment information (last 4 digits, expiration date) for your records.

AI Recommendations - OpenAI

We use OpenAI's technology to generate personalized gift recommendations. When you request recommendations, we send relevant recipient preferences (interests, lifestyle, occasion type) to OpenAI. This data is used solely to generate recommendations and is subject to OpenAI's Privacy Policy. We do not share personal identifiers (names, emails) with OpenAI.

Email Communications - Resend

We use Resend to send transactional emails including verification codes, welcome messages, password resets, and occasion reminders. Your email address is shared with Resend for this purpose only.

Affiliate Partners

When you click on product links to purchase gifts, you may be directed to third-party retailer websites. These are affiliate links, meaning we may earn a commission on qualifying purchases at no additional cost to you. Each retailer has its own privacy policy governing your interactions with their site.

4. Information Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share information only in the following circumstances:

• With Your Consent: When you explicitly agree to share information
• Service Providers: With vendors who help us operate our service (as described above)
• Shareable Profile Links: When you create a share link for a recipient, anyone with that link can view and update that recipient's preferences
• Matched Users: If you enable discoverability, other Giftr users can find and link to your profile when adding you as a recipient
• Legal Requirements: When required by law, court order, or governmental authority
• Safety: To protect the rights, safety, and property of Giftr, our users, or the public

5. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide our services. Specifically:

• Account Data: Retained until you delete your account
• Recipient and Occasion Data: Retained until you delete the records or your account
• Purchase History: Retained for your reference, even if you delete the associated recipient
• Analytics Data: Aggregated usage data may be retained indefinitely for service improvement
• Backup Data: May persist in backups for up to 90 days after deletion

After account deletion, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required for legal, tax, or regulatory purposes.

6. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information, including:

• Encryption of data in transit using TLS/SSL
